QUADRANGULAR INTERNATIONAL DECEMBER 2011

Catalonia defeated Galicia by 5.5 matches to 0.5 in the final of the Quadrangular International at Boiro, Galicia on Friday.  Portugal finished third, having overcome Andorra 4-2 in the play-off.

Catalonia qualified for the Quadrangular International final after the opening day's play. Catalonia defeated Andorra in the first semi-final. The Galicians and the Portuguese tied their semi-final encounter on Thursday. The hosts won an 18 holes foursomes play-off on Friday morning to advance to the decider.

Portugal and Galicia will play off at 10.30 a.m. on Friday morning to decide which will face Catalonia in Friday's final. 

The semi-final line-up was decided by an 18 hole singles strokeplay. Catalonia led the way, followed by Galicia, Portugal and Andorra. Top Catalan lady Abby Nachson produced the best score of the day, a 2 under par 52.
