NEWS FROM ACPP: ELECTIONS FOR THE PRESIDENCY AND THE BOARD (2006-2010)

ImageAs laid down in the statutes of ACPP the electoral period that started one month ago has just finished. Only one candidature –with Jose M. de Anzizu as President - had been presented and therefore he has been re-elected for the period 2006-2010.

The Board will be composed as follows:

Josep M. de Anzizu (St Cebrià and Teià)
Oriol Badia (Mas Pagés)
Susana Bleier (Manresa)
Marc Casadellà (Gualta)
Xavier Gimeno (Badalona)
Medir Giralt (Lloret-Papalús)
Àngel Llopis (Portal del Roc)
Víctor Moscatel (Lleida)
Mario Pons (Manresa)
Josep M. Roqueta (El Vendrell)
Jordi Torrent (Sant Cebrià and Teià)

Martin Whitelaw has been appointed Advisor to the Board.

In the initial paragraphs of the candidature’s programme, the quantitative development attained during the period 2002-2006 was considered very positive:

a total of 11.500 registered players which represents almost the double of the number in 2002;
35 courses;
over 800 tournaments per year with the right to modify handicaps.

But, at the same time, the need to finish some of the present pending matters was emphasized and, above all, it is necessary to make an effort to improve the quality in its different aspects.

A summary of the objectives mentioned in the Electoral Programme:

  • to reinforce the identity of pitch and putt as an independent sport activity
  • to improve the quality and security of the courses and the competitions
  • supervise and control the work of the Sports Committee in order to assure that the existing norms and the “fair play” principles are always followed by the courses and the players
  • follow up the process to become an independent Catalan federation while trying to keep a good and collaborative relation with the golf structures
  • continue the progressive professionalization of our operational structures
  • assure the necessary good balance between the interests of the firms that have invested in pitch and putt courses and the sport side, represented now by the UCPP and, hopefully, later on by the Federation
  • continue our efforts to help establishing high quality and well organised pitch and putt courses in the rest of Spain
  • consolidate our position in the international structures to which we belong or might belong in the future
  • provide the necessary means to promote pitch and putt activities and do our best to establish the necessary channels of communications with players, courses and public in general
  • continue our conservative approach to the financial side of the association and make sure that a balance between income and expenses is attained, as has been done in the last four years
  • do our best to develop juvenile pitch and putt, one of our pending issues
