Marc Fischer wins Australian Open 2014

The Australian Open was played at the Waverley course in Melbourne from November 29-30 2014.

A magnificent Sunday 36 hole total of 95 (which included a scintillating third round 46) gave Marc Fischer his first Australian Open title.  Fischer fired a 72 hole aggregate of 194 for a seven stroke winning margin over former three time winner James Rogerson.  Marc Fischer, who was second three years ago, closed with a 49 for his 22 under par total.  James Rogerson, who had led by a shot overnight with a Saturday 99, finished runner-up for the second successive year.  Young Jack Kalis placed third on 203.

2010 winner Julie Richardson played steadily all through to win her second Australian Ladies Open. Six shots clear at the close of play on Saturday, Julie scored rounds of 60 and 59 on Sunday for a cumulative 234 and a 12 shot margin over Gloria Hourigan (who also finished second in 2013).  Helen Angel, winner for the past two years, was just another stroke behind in third.
